Millenium Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva 2018

$159.99

Availability: 4 in stock

The Millenium Gran Reserva is only made in exceptional vintages and it is Tinto Pesquera’s crowning jewel. The grapes come from Viña Alta, the first plot planted by the Familia Fernández Rivera almost 50 years ago. 2015 was a hot year, perfectly suiting the old vines at higher altitudes, such as those in Viña Alta. Matured for 24 months in oak, it’s the only wine the family age in French oak barrels, making it something truly special. Expect an explosive combo of crème de cassis, blackberry, black cherry, freshly roasted coffee, liquorice, sophisticated woody spices, cedar and leather. This is simply a phenomenal piece of winemaking and every inch a classic. One of the defining wines of Ribera del Duero that should be on the bucket list of all Spanish wine lovers. Tinto Pesquera is a 16th Century stone winery where Familia Fernández Rivera first began making wine in 1975, sparking a winemaking revolution that put Ribera del Duero on the map for all connoisseurs. Alejandro Fernández, who sadly died in 2021, made his money in sugar beet harvesting machines. He sold his patent and bought a vineyard in Pesquera de Duero in 1972. At that time, the only local winery of note was Vega Sicilia and the region didn’t even have a Denominación de Origen classification yet. When Robert Parker compared Tinto Pesquera to Château Pétrus, the world took notice, and it has been an icon of Ribera del Duero ever since.
