Winery Notes

Azienda Agricola Ribote is a small, family-run winery in the hills of Dogliani in Piedmont’s Langhe region, operated by Bruno Porro and his family. The estate takes its name from the historic farmhouse and old tree known locally as “Ribote,” which has long been associated with the property. The Porro family has farmed these vineyards for generations, focusing on traditional Piedmontese varieties cultivated on calcareous hillside soils at elevations ranging from approximately 200 to 600 meters above sea level.

The winery is best known for its honest, terroir-driven wines produced with minimal intervention and a strong respect for local tradition. Farming is largely manual, with an emphasis on sustainable practices and preserving the natural character of the fruit. While Ribote is especially respected for Dolcetto, the estate also produces expressive Langhe Nebbiolo and small quantities of Barolo.

Langhe Nebbiolo is often considered one of Piedmont’s great values, crafted from the same Nebbiolo grape responsible for Barolo and Barbaresco but typically designed to be more approachable in youth while still reflecting the elegance, structure, and aromatic complexity that define the region.

Tasting Notes

Elegant and expressive, this Langhe Nebbiolo opens with aromas of rose petals, dried cherry, raspberry, violet, and subtle spice layered with hints of earth, leather, and tea leaf. The palate is medium-bodied and refined, balancing vibrant red fruit with fresh acidity and classic Nebbiolo tannins. Notes of dried herbs, crushed stone, and a touch of tar emerge through the long, savory finish. Approachable earlier than Barolo while still unmistakably Piedmontese in character, the wine offers both finesse and structure with exceptional food-pairing versatility.
